Respond- Animation Shorts
In the short film "Spellbound," the animator uses informal balance for the picture frames at the start of the video to give the viewers a visual feeling of weight. It is asymmetrical but not overwhelmingly scattered, giving the audience a sense of comfort. In the clip after, the animator uses a dolly across camera movement to present the pictures and trophies on the girl's table. This gives the audience a feeling of excitement that something with action is about to happen. Later on, the artist shows an over the shoulder camera angle with Sally waving to her sister. The purpose of this is to capture the perspective of the person whose shoulder the camera is behind.
In the short film "The Small Shoemaker," the animator uses vertical lines for the buildings in front of the shop. This principle of design is used to emphasize the height of the buildings. The animator also uses the medium shot camera angle when the worker is dusting the shoes. This is to emphasize the character and their surrounding objects. Lastly, the animator uses the quick dolly out camera movement as the shoes are laid out one by one by the redhead. The purpose of this is to send the audience towards an emotion of excitement.
In the short film "Destiny" the animator uses repetition of curved lines on the clock to give the audience a feeling or sense of relief. They also use the long shot camera angle to show the audience a full picture of the character's surrounding. Since it reveals so much background scene, it may be used to set the mood of the setting. Lastly, the animator uses the handheld camera movement to show shakiness in the scene, providing a sense of danger or uneasiness.
